Van Maanen is the innkeeper, Dawn Anderson’s, maiden name. The Van Maanens immigrated from the Netherlands arriving by ship on Ellis Island in the 1910s. They settled in Sioux County, Iowa and began farming. Dawn’s grandfather, Gysbert (Bert) Van Maanen married Gertrude (Gert) Dykstra. Dawn’s father, James Van Maanen, is their only son. Dawn was very close to her beloved Grandma Gert. Dawn’s parents, Jim and Edie Van Maanen, generously donated their time and labor to the clean-up and restoration of the Anderson Bed & Breakfast. Our B&B is “Dutch” neat and clean :)
THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!
