We bought six K-State chickens in April, just before they began laying and installed them in a section of the garage so they can get safely in during the night, with plenty of room to roam outdoors during the day. They have consistently produced 5-6 eggs daily so all our breakfasts feature the freshest of organic eggs. We’ve named them Poopsie, Crappie, Shittie, Dropsey, Flopsey and Gimpy. They love eating leftover fruit and veggies and dash to the chicken-run gate if I come out of the house with treats in my hand. An hour before dark we let them out of their fenced area to explore our yard for bugs and worms and grass. They return to their secure henhouse to roost just before the solar panel automatically shuts their door for the night. It will open again at first light.
