Anderson Bed & Breakfast guests typically remark on the dining table where breakfast is usually served. The table was designed and built by my brother, Dave, as a wedding gift for Dawn and me in 1994. It is made of African mahogany, poplar and an ash tree cut down on my brother and his wife, Peggy’s, historical property a few blocks away. Dave also made the unique cantilevered coffee table in the sitting area made of local walnut, American elm and Siberian elm which he gave to us as a housewarming gift for the bed and breakfast. — Phil Anderson, Owner/Innkeeper.
David and Phil were raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota by their mother, Dottie. Their father, Arvid Anderson, was killed on Iwo Jima when they were very young. David worked as a carpenter at the Metropolitan Opera and Broadway in New York for around 40 years before retiring to Manhattan, Kansas to be near his older brother, Phil. When you stay at the Anderson B& B ask to see the photos of Arvid and letter from President Roosevelt in grateful memory of his patriotic service. — Dawn Anderson, Owner/Innkeeper.
